Purpose and scope
CW Room is an online CW contact space that simulates part of the 40-meter amateur band. It does not transmit RF and is not official proof of licensing. It lets operators practise tuning, listening, hand sending, and orderly contacts with other visitors.
How to use CW Room
- Tune between 7.000 and 7.050 MHz in 1 kHz steps.
- Watch the spectrum and waterfall, then listen before transmitting.
- Use Space, Enter, mouse, or the mobile key button. Audio is synthesized locally from realtime key events.
- Each frequency supports up to three transmit seats; other visitors remain listeners.
- End a completed contact with the current QSO confirmation sequence.
BA7MTH/BOT practice
BA7MTH/BOT, bot-only guest trials, private bot transcripts, and the bot operations console were not available in v1.1. This archived page documents the earlier human-only CFSK room.
Account, purchase, and callsign identity
Anonymous visitors may listen. Confirmed-email members may practise with BA7MTH/BOT using their CW599 username after accepting v1.3 rules. A member with any currently valid paid order may communicate with people and call CQ using the CW599 username plus a Purchased identity marker. An administrator-verified callsign replaces that display with the verified callsign. Purchase never verifies a callsign.
License evidence is re-encoded, stripped of EXIF metadata, encrypted, and stored outside the public site.
QSO confirmation
Each participant confirms a completed contact by sending CFSK. The final S and K may be joined as the standard <SK> prosign, producing CF<SK>. At least two authenticated identities must independently confirm within the confirmation window before a public QSO summary is created.
A summary stores each participant’s public label, identity type and internal account reference, plus frequency, UTC time, duration, and rules version. The account reference prevents a CW599 username that matches another operator’s callsign from being merged. Decoded conversation text and raw key sequences are not permanently stored.
Civil conduct rules
- Listen before transmitting. Do not intentionally cover another signal or create deliberate QRM.
- Do not impersonate callsigns, harass, threaten, advertise, spam, or transmit illegal or dangerous content.
- Do not use automation to occupy a frequency or evade seat limits, rate limits, sanctions, or verification.
- Do not transmit passwords, document numbers, or other sensitive personal information.
Administrators may restrict transmission, revoke verification, suspend, or ban accounts that violate these rules.
Versions and archives
v1.1 is preserved as documentation only. It used CFSK for human QSO confirmation. The live room runs the current rules and does not provide a runnable v1.1 snapshot.
