A five-step CW setup routine
Use this order as an operating checklist, not as a replacement for the radio manual. Controls and available options can vary by firmware and region.
Choose CW receive behavior
Select CW or CW-R, confirm CW Normal Side, and set a comfortable CW pitch.
Set speed and sidetone
Use the key-speed control and CW-KEY SET sidetone level before operating with headphones.
Use conservative break-in
Start with semi break-in and verify your portable power, antenna, and keyer arrangement are stable.
Configure USB keying only when needed
Keep USB SEND/Keying disabled until a tested interface is connected.

- Filter: Tighten gradually, while preserving your preferred tone

- Tuning: Use the radio display only as an aid; copy by ear

For operators who need quicker station turnaround.
- Break-in: Only increase switching speed after a full station check
